The toy line was courtesy of Toy Biz - who later found success with Spider-man - and throughout the '90s the company racked up a heck of a lot of mutant figures from Cyclops and Professor X, to lesser known characters such as Eric the Red and Strong Guy.
The first wave of figures (right) featured nine characters, each boasting a range of 'action' features, from Cyclops' 'laser' beam eyes and Wolverine's retractable claws to Nightcrawler's suction cup knee/hand and Storm's light-up chest (I kid you not).
Wave One was brilliant and for fans of the X-Men the line provided fans with the best way to act out stories from the comics and cartoon shows.
Such was the popularity of the X-Men toys that pretty much every character imaginable cropped up - along with countless versions of Wolverine. Jeez, even characters that would never normally make a line of toys appeared.
If you were a toy collector during the '90s you won't have missed these and if you did...
...then what the heck were you doing?!?!
