Mc G, Peter Johnson and Smallville executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson planned to produce a TV series set around a pre-Robin Dick Grayson and his acrobatic family.
OH.SO WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED?
The show would have shown the early adventures of the young Dick Grayson, before he became Batman’s best bud, Robin and presumably would have eventually ended with the death of his family and the introduction of Bruce Wayne.
BUT WHAT DID HAPPEN? Warner Bros got cold feet and (rightly so) pulled the plug before it even began.
WAS THIS SUCH A GOOD THING?
Hell yeah! How long could they have actually kept the show going? What could they have possibly added to the story to flesh it out for even one season?Apart from maybe a series of murder mysteries at the circus involving an elephant and one of those small cars full of clowns?!
Robin is one of the all time classic characters, but come on...the idea was just stupid!
BUT WHAT IF?
Well if The Graysons had made it beyond the initial idea, then no doubt each week viewers would have been subjected to a series of tedious stories that would have hinted at Dick’s future as a detective crime-fighter.It would have been a sort of Cosby Mysteries meets the Greatest Show On Earth, with a plucky young lad in the role....Or maybe someone like Justin Bieber. The show would have been successful because fans would have stuck with it, even if it had lasted a decade, just to see Dick put on the famous costume.Along the way there would have been ‘special’ episodes featuring Dick’s first date, Dick’s first kiss and an awkward couple of episodes where Dick locks himself in the bathroom for hours at a time and uses up all of the tissues.
