COMIC-BOOK CREDENTIALS: Ben Tennyson appeared in Cartoon Network’s comic strip books based on the TV series Ben 10.
COMIC-BOOK WEAKNESSES: Confused readers of Ben 10 comics might have resisted buying more of his adventures, fearing they had missed out on stories involving Ben 1 – 9! This could have seriously hindered his popularity.
Possesses the Omnitrix, an alien device that looks like a watch but contains the DNA of numerous alien creatures. In essence it’s like an extraterrestrial Pop Swatch….only cooler.
REASON FOR RECRUITMENT: Did you not read the above information? Ben has access to the Omnitrix; a pretty important gizmo! When activated the Omnitrix mixes some of the alien DNA contained within it with Ben’s DNA, to allow him to transform it one of a number of creatures. These transformations allow Ben to retain his personality whilst he also gains certain character traits of the alien as well as their unique abilities; which include extreme heat blasts, increased strength, heightened intelligence and super speed! The Omnitrix is pretty much latched onto Ben’s arm, so it’s better to have him on board than to attempt to sever his arm at the wrist and try to find someone else to use it! He’s also a good kid, so he shouldn’t ruffle too many feathers amongst the other recruits.
POTENTIAL RISK: Ben’s only 10-years-old, so although he’ll do pretty much what he’s ordered to do by Hannibal, there is the risk that it could all go Pete Tong if he gets the dreaded onset of acne. Oh and if he gets even a whiff of sugar, there will be a very hyperactive kid on the loose and that’s more dangerous than anything… even pissing off Xena at certain times during the month.
CHANCES OF SURVIVAL: As long as the Omnitrix is in full working order then Ben’s chances of survival are pretty high. However if it breaks, then he’s probably not going to last long.
IN EVENT OF DEATH BEFORE MISSION... LIKELIHOOD OF REPLACEMENT WITH WOLVERINE: Unlikely as Wolverine can’t transform into a variety of aliens with different powers and abilities.
