Zombie World Dr. Doom – “Baboon Von Doom. That alone is reason enough to destroy your world.”
WHAT IS IT? It’s a one-shot spin-off comic that mixed Marvel Zombies (good storyline) and Marvel Apes (just shite).
GOOD IDEA/BAD IDEA: Marvel Zombies was a great idea.Marvel Apes clearly wasn’t.Putting the two together was never going to improve Marvel Apes because quite frankly you can’t polish a turd... especially if it’s simian shite. It also didn’t help that there were many artists working on the book which made it feel disjointed and difficult to get involved with.
WHAT’S THE STORY?
In an alternate (yet good) Marvel Universe where all of the Marvel heroes are zombies a spanner is thrown into the works when a group of apes from another alternate (and crappy) Marvel Universe suddenly appear on the scene. With the Marvel Apes being an embarrassingly bad idea from Marvel, it’s not surprising that the Marvel Zombies want to kill them and feast on their fur covered corpses. This is of course bad news for Marty the monkey hero (using the word loosely of course) from the original Marvel Apes storyline as he faces the prospect of being dinner for the undead. With all the monkeys on the loose it’s also bad news for the zombies as they’re getting the afterlife knocked out of them in an annoying battle of boringness.
So zombie Reed Richards suggests to Marty’s band of monkeys that they use some of his techno-science-know-how to go back in time just before this all started, to put things right. This of course would also mean that there’s a possibility that Marvel Zombies: Evil Evolution wouldn’t have been published; making it a win-win situation!Of course being a bit of an evil bugger Reed double crosses everyone and soon Marty is killed...
but then so is Reed...
and so the rest of the simians reverse time erasing the events of the day.Unfortunately despite what had seemed a solid plan to master the laws of time and space, readers have still forked out $4.99 for this shite.
TIME FOR A CHANGE: *Marvel Apes sucked...and therefore anything connected to it also sucked.
*Zombie Reed Richards may have been the cleverest zombie in the Marvel Universe, but even he wasn’t smart enough to keep away from the Marvel Apes.
*It is believed that if the Marvel Zombies weren’t already dead, they would have killed themselves to avoid the shame of appearing in a Marvel Apes story.
