Some cats claw the furniture, crap in the next door neighbour’s garden and pee all over the carpet and these are just some of the reasons as to why dogs are considered to be man’s best friend...and not cats. Thing is there has always been one cat who was cooler than the rest and could certainly give any dog a run for its money. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the early days of British comic The Dandy, long before chin-challenged pie eater Desperate Dan muscled his way into people’s hearts, a cat named Korky was its big star - Its very big star! In fact the black and white feline was the cover star of the comic for almost 47 years non-stop, which is very impressive if you consider the amount of characters that appeared in the Dandy. Yeah Bananaman might have been the Dandy’s fruit based super man, but he had nothing on Korky, who was the real super sensation of the comic. Over the years his popularity within the pages of the Dandy may have dwindled a bit (hey, you can’t be popular all the time) but he will always remain The Comics Code’s favourite pussy and that’s why he’s a Pulp Idol.
Oh and you can bet he wouldn’t crap in next door’s garden either. Garfield would.
