Larry Kriter - "My twelve-year old is offering me wine. Hah."
WHAT IS IT? It's the first issue of Neal Adams' Jason Kriter: Toyboy...which was about a clever young lad who made toys... and not about someone who dated above their age range.
GOOD IDEA/BAD IDEA: Neal Adams is a legend and was one of the guiding forces behind Batman's continued success and in all fairness, Jason Kriter wasn't awful; it was just bog standard. Jason was a bit too knowledgeable for his age and seemed as if he was just one step away from setting traps for burglars if he was ever left home alone. On top of that his dad looked like Tom Selleck... or a 70s porn star who worked as a Tom Selleck look-a-like in his down time.
WHAT'S THE STORY?
Jason is a bit of a clever clogs and when he's not being a smartarse genius inventing toys (annoyingly backwards speaking robots), he's telling his dad how much he loves him. His dad Larry however is not the great guy that Jason thinks he is, because he's secretly doing dodgy arms deals on the side. Joe 90... erm Jason, is oblivious to all this until he overhears his dad TALKING LOUDLY and FIRING WEAPONS in the house, which is his first clue that something is not quite what it should be.
Upon learning the truth about his father, Jason sneaks out of the house to stop his dad from committing further crimes, by heading to the weapons exchange point at the nearby airfield. It's possible he's doing this because he really does love his father and by stopping the deal from taking place it will make Larry return to a life of being a saint... but it's also possible it's because he's a snot nosed brat who doesn't know when to shut up and appreciate the spoils of his father's ill-gotten games. Either way Kevin McAllister... erm Jason, puts himself squarely in the midst of the arms shipment at the airfield and along with his plucky chauffeur and the resident super strong guy Megalith, they round up the bad guys and stop the deal from taking place.
With the problem solved, Jason returns home to find his dad receiving a phone call informing him his money making scheme has gone tits up. With no backhanded deals bringing in money, Larry Kriter is forced to return to his former career in the adult entertainment industry in a pornographic take on Magnum P.I.
YOU MUST BE KIDDING: *Following the downfall of Larry's criminal empire, Jason turned into a right brat. The situation got so bad that his actions eventually became the basis for the 1994 movie, Getting Even With Dad.
*Jason not only ruined his father's scheme to make mega-bucks... he also flipped him the bird on three seperate occasions.
*Since kick-starting his career in porn, Larry has appeared in the pornographic movies, Quiqley Going Down Under, In & Out & In Again and Three Men and A Lady-Boy.
